Green Designation for Realtors® - The National Association of Realtors® has introduced a new Green designation for Realtors®. The designation will help home buyers and sellers who care about energy efficiency and environmentally sound building practices identify Realtors® who can help them meet their green home goals.
 GBRAR - Greater Baton Rouge Association of REALTORS® - a private trade association of licensed real estate brokers and agents, certified appraisers (and some others in affiliated businesses) in the jurisdiction as assigned by the National Association of REALTORS® who have agreed to come together for purposes of self interest and agreed to abide by a Code of Ethics.
 ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) - NAR's designation for real estate buyer agents who focus on working directly with buyer-clients.
 SRS (Seller Representative Specialist) - the premiere seller agency designation, conferred by the SRS Council, recognizing real estate professionals who have completed special education in seller representation.

$8,000 Tax Credit Can Now Be "Monetized" |
|
First-time home buyers now have an even greater incentive to purchase a home in today's market - the $8,000 tax credit made available by the federal government can now be monetized. That means the tax credit can be used as "real money" toward down-payment expenses or certain closing costs. Click here to learn more about monetization. Baton Rouge Economy Ranked Among Best in U.S. |
|
The Brookings Institution, among the nation's most-influential policy groups, ranks Baton Rouge No. 8 among the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas for economic performance during the recession. "This is the most comprehensive study we've seen, and it validates how strong our economy really is," said Adam Knapp, chief executive of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, which has scrutinized every blip in the economy since September for signs of the 18-month recession's encroachment into the region. Construction, stable government employment and a volatile but relatively strong energy sector are cited by Brookings researchers for buoying the Louisiana capital's economy. Housing Market & Economic Development Boosts Monroe Area |
|
The Northeast Louisiana region is making the news as a result of new developments in manufacturing operations in Monroe, LA, that will create more than 1,600 new jobs over the next two years. The community of Monroe was also recently rated by Kiplinger's Personal Finance website site as a Top 10 market for retaining home value. The Kiplinger report credited the stable job market as a key factor contributing to the healthy housing market. New Jobs, Good Quality of Life in Shreveport-Bossier Area |
|
BusinessWeek.com has ranked the Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area as 15th among its top 20 places in the U.S. where companies are hiring and the quality of life is high. The Web site cites Shreveport-Bossier City for having a low cost of living and seeing new jobs coming from the natural gas industry and the movie business. The Business Week report comes on the heels of a recent announcement that Barksdale Air Force Base, just outside Shreveport, will be the home of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The new division will be activated on August 7, 2009 and is expected to create 1,000 new jobs at Barksdale, the military said. Visit the Region 1 page on home ownership website for more information.
